Ryan P. Farrell is a respected figure in Crystal Lake, deeply ingrained in the fabric of McHenry County. He grew up a local product of D47 and D155 schools (CL South High School), married his high school sweetheart, Amy (Breda) Farrell, and they now reside in Lakewood, IL, with their two sons, Brady and Luke. Through his lifelong local exposure, Ryan has developed an intimate understanding of the local businesses and community dynamics.
He attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign for his undergraduate degree, receiving his Bachelor of Science in accountancy in 2000. He later attended Loyola University and received his law degree in 2005.

Prior to coming to Home State Bank, N.A., Ryan worked at Ernst & Young LLP in both its audit and its tax group, then at the law firm of Zukowski, Rogers, Flood & McArdle based in Crystal Lake, including as a Partner for over a decade. As a certified public accountant and attorney, he has guided numerous clients through intricate transactions, including contract drafting, real estate dealings, business incorporations, and tax planning. His comprehensive knowledge and transactional experience cover a diverse range of areas, from corporate law to commercial and residential real estate and estate planning.
Ryan's dedication to his profession is reflected in his active involvement in professional associations, such as serving on the board of directors for Home State Bank, N.A., and his membership in the McHenry County Bar Association. He is also a prolific author, contributing insightful articles to the Northwest Herald on various legal topics.
In addition to his professional commitments, Ryan is deeply committed to serving his community. He has been actively engaged in numerous civic and charitable organizations, including serving on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County and as the general corporate counsel for the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.
Ryan's commitment to community service extends to his involvement in education, where he served for twelve years on the School District 47 Board of Education and coached youth sports through Crystal Lake Raiders Football, Crystal Lake Central Tiger Feeder Basketball, Crystal Lake Baseball, and others. He is also a member of the 2010 class of Leadership Greater McHenry County, where he continues to foster and develop local community leaders.
His contributions to the community have earned him recognition, including the Carl E. Wehde Award for Community Leadership, the Presidential Award of Excellence from the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, the GEMs of Crystal Lake Leadership Award from the Crystal Lake Chamber Foundation, and the Illinois State Board of Education Award of Excellence by a School Board Member.
